Marian's Christmas Roses

Each Christmas season, everyone at our house looks forward to these Christmas Pastries. My mother-in-law called them "roses". They are a variation on the traditional Neapolitan Christmas treat called Struffoli. It's the same ingredients but the technique for shaping them into flower shapes was handed down from Bill's mom

  1. These are beautiful. How nice to have a recipe and a tradition to pass down. I know this recipe is beyond my 'skills' in the kitchen, but I will enjoy vicariously.
Hope your new year starts out great and proceeds the same.

  2. Maya,This is just my variation on the classic Neapolitan Struffoli, which is much easier and less time consuming and also makes a very pretty presentation. You can find many recipes online, but essentially the dough is just cut up into little balls, about the size of marbles, and all fried up in a few batches. Then they are all dumped into the hot honey and simply turned out onto a plate. Buon appetito!
